Most Accidents Happen In The Home
One day this last week I worked all day at the shop and spent the evening at my desk taking care of eBay business. I was tired and saved myself a step or two by rolling my chair and reaching for things.
Rolling an office chair with wheels on a plastic mat seems reasonable, right? Well apparently, when running out of mat and leaning too far, it is possible to turn an office into a rodeo in split second. And obviously there was not much chance of an out of shape grandma winning the contest. Guess who was on the floor when the dust cleared?
Not only had I managed to flip my chair sideways, but in the process I injured my tailbone on the arm of the chair when we slammed into the floor together.
You would think that working from home would be a safe occupation. I have yet to see “home office worker” on any hazardous job list, so it seems that experts consider my work fairly safe.
The experts are welcome to spend a day with me. I would be easy to keep up with right now. It hurts to bend over for any reason, my eyes water when I sit down, and I am staying home as much as possible because my car is a torture chamber.
Stay safe everyone. Just remember what “they” say. Most accidents happen in the home.
