What a sweetheart of a day! Happy Valentines Day!

14 February 2011

Today is mostly about family at our house.

Scott has the day off from work. All of my weekend sales were shipped out this morning, so I am taking it easy the rest of the day. A little bit of chocolate, a few errands, no cooking – we are eating leftover pizza for lunch.

Whatever you are doing today – I hope it is a sweetheart of a day for you. Happy Valentines Day!

Looking Out For Work-at-Home Scams

19 August 2009

I came across an interesting article today on Today at MSNBC’s web site.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32359839/ns/today-today_technology_and_money/

The article entitled “Too good to be true! Skirt work-at-home scams – In a down economy, con artists are tricking people who need extra income” by Laura T. Coffey was very eye opening. It is an article that talks about the pitfalls that you need to be aware of when considering a work-from-home scheme. They gave an example about a man who is a retired professor and a software engineer who was caught in a minor scam from the Las Vegas based online company Google Money Tree. You would think that someone with this guys creds would not fall for a scam, but he did. That means that all of the rest of us less well educated could stand to be on high alert when it comes to protecting ourselves from the con men out there who want to separate us from our hard earned paychecks any way they can. The author of the article gives 10 good ways to keep from falling prey to these tricks. I especially liked tip number 9 which gave positive ideas on where to look for real work-at-home oportunities.

I have to give great kudos to my wife Leah because I think she is the smartest online user I think I have ever seen. She can spot spoof email and web pages a mile away. I am in awe of her ability and I have learned alot about how to not be so gullible when I see something that looks legit.

Bottom line folks? Be aware of the scams. Don’t do anything that can potentially take money out of your pocket without first checking on the company or opportunity.

Happy Living!

who reads instruction manuals?

14 November 2008

I think my husband has set up his and her blogs for us without fully realizing what he has done to himself.

I depend on him to show me how to operate things, like my cell phone, after he has read the manual/instructions. He likes the technical side of things. I just want them to do what I need them to do. So, with this blog format, though I will do my best to learn – I will probably never read the instructions because I know he already has. I operate on a need to know basis. There is a lot that I need to know, but why duplicate his efforts?

On the other hand, he doesn’t have free rein. He has learned the hard way, poor man. The last time I sent up a computer S.O.S. signal, he came to my rescue. But then he went a step further while at my desk and reorganized my Internet favorites list! My “filing” system may not make sense to him – or to anyone else – but it doesn’t need to. It’s mine!

At any rate…me having a blog is going to cause him some work. (but it was his idea) This should get interesting.
