Hidden Treasure
During one of my recent treasure hunts I noticed more competition than I would normally see. I am of the mind set that there will always be another one – whatever “it” is, so I don’t get too excited. I believe that if God wants me to have something I will not have to push and shove to get it anyway.
This particular day I met a very nice woman. We were both digging through old toys. I do not know what she planned to do with her bounty and I didn’t announce my intent. We shopped side by side just fine ~ like coworkers might. We compared notes on a few things…I sent one of those games to my grandson…that kind of thing.
Her face lit up when she saw me choose several puzzles. Then she did something that warmed my heart and surprised me at the same time. She trotted over to an out of the way shelf and grabbed an impressive grizzly bear puzzle for me. She had started to buy it but changed her mind. Of the dozens of other people milling around nobody else cared about sealed vintage puzzles. For me it was the best find of the day.
After making sure she didn’t really want the puzzle, I bought it. I promise to share it soon. I am also happy to announce that the warm feeling in my heart has lasted. Next week I plan to find a way to pay it forward.
